Does your child like to go to movies? Is he or she a good writer?

From now until December 31st, your child can submit a written and videotaped film review to KIDS FIRST! and become eligible for their 2012 search for their panel of 8 film critics. The age range for the contest is 6-14.

It’s as easy as 1,2,3:

1. Watch one of the official Film Critic Search Films (below)

2. Submit a written and videotaped review

3. Get everyone you know to vote for you!

The reviews must be of any one of the following movies: Happy Feet, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer, Glee!, Season 2, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World or Barbie: A Perfect Christmas. All are available on Amazon or where movies are sold or on VOD from Comcast.

The program was begun to teach healthy media habits, strong critical thinking, writing and public speaking skills to kids. Winners attended advanced screenings and red carpet events for movies and were able to meet some heavy hitters in the kid film world.

Some of the 2011 winners have taken their opportunities and done amazing things. Denver’s Raven Devanney now has a roll as the host of KIDS FIRST! Coming Attractions on VoiceAmerica Kids radio. New York’s Gabriella Chu has interviewed Judy Moody star Jordana Beatty and its author Megan McDonald. Anthony Aranda attended red carpet events for Winnie the Pooh and This is Your Ocean Sharks and got to interview Cars 2 director John Lasseter.

Twenty-four finalists will be chosen – 20 by public vote and 4 additional by a special panel. Public voting is open now and the site is www.wonderworldcity.com/kidsfirst – please go and vote for your favorites!

A celebrity panel of judges will be selecting the 8 winners and 4 alternates. Judges include Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban, (who also owns Landmark Theaters and Magnolia Pictures), E! Film Critic Ben Lyons, Thelma Adams, novelist and formers film critic for US Weekly and the New York Post and George Pennacchio from LA’s KABC-TV’s Eyewitness News.

The 2011 winners have had some amazing media exposure as well. Their reviews have appeared regularly on AOL Kids, WorkingMother.com, HPUB from the Huffington Post, parenthood.com and many local web publications.
